On this page I'll talk about some of the top players on Flames 2001/2002 team. It's going to be hard to choose just two or three!
AAAAhhhh to hell with that, you can see all of them!!
And don't forget, you can search for these players stats using the Internet Hockey Database, just scroll to the bottom of the page and type it in!

Mark McArthur-Netminder

McArthur

Mark McArthur signed a 2 year deal with the Flames after a magnificen first season. Mark is probably one of the best if not the best Goalie the Flames have ever had. The reason for this is his lighting-quick reflexes and his passing ability. He made hundreds of crucial saves, and never failed to impress and for that reason has forced interest from the top ISL teams like London.

Grant King-Netminder

Grant King has returned to the Flames for the third sucessive season after his first was cut short by injury. He is a promising young player who will learn a lot for being back-up to Mark McArthur.

Regan Stocco-Defense

Regan has joined the Flames after a season in coaching with his former club Guelph Storm, this will not be his first time in british hockey after a spell with London in 1998. He was apparantly recommended to Stan Marple by his star goalie at Guelph Mark McArthur so if that is anything to go by, then he's is good!

Jason Dailey-Defense

Dailey.gif

Jason Dailey signs with the Flames from local rivals Slough, he had a good season with them, scoring 24 goals and 25 assists. We hope he will do the scoring which was done by (SIR)Scott Campbell. He originally played for Cornell Universtiy and he was a high scorer at that level.

Jason Stone-Defense

Jason joined the Flames last season from then the Cardif Devils of the ISL he had spent his whole career there but decided to join the Flames when the call came. He is a solid stay at home defenseman and does not always show how good he is but he's always working hard and making a difference.

Paul Dixon-Defense

Paul Dixon, one of Breat Britains best and most experienced players return to the Flames for his third season, Paul has represented Great Britain 45 times scoring 1 goal and 12 assists, he is always comitted to the task and will be another asset to the Flames this year.

Derek DeCosty-Forward

DeCosty

Derek Has signed for the Flames for his fifth season with them. Derek DeCosty is one of the Flames' most consistent players, he is always on the score sheet in whatever the circumstances, in the last 27 games he only missed out on a point in 2 of those games. He was the leagues leading hat-trick man with 6 hat-tricks and the Flames' leading goal-scorer with 69 goals from 67 games!!

Jason Jennings-Forward

Jason joined the Flames as a replacement for the injured Crombie, and slotted straight into the first line with Biette and DeCosty, his start was quite slow as he had not been playing prior to signing for the Flames, but his speed and shot power made him a big hit with the fans and in the playoffs he was awesome, scoring 21 points from just 10 games.

Nicky Chinn-Forward

nicky.jpg

Nicky Chinn joined the Flames half way through last season from London after four and a half years in the ISL as an extra British player, he was and instant hit with the fans for his powerful and acurate wrist and slap-shots, his punishing hits and his all round game, sometimes a bit too layed back though, but he is definately worth whatever he gets paid!!

Rob Lamey-Forward

Lamey.gif

Rob Lamey started his career in the Flames first team at just 16, he has worked hard and never gives up. He is on a third line with Ricky Plant and Tony Redmond*(likely). He has already passed the 250 games mark for the Flames and still has a long career ahead of him.

Ricky Plant-Forward

Ricky.gif

Ricky is a hard working youngster with a lot of strength and ability, last year it took him a while to get off the mark but he was a valuable player. He is in his second spell with the Flames after joining from Swindon at the same time as his brother Russ, both went back to play for Telford for a year befre they both returned in 1999, Russ was released during that season but Ricky is still with us.

John Haig-Forward

Haig.gif

John Haig signed for Flames in the off season of 99/00, he is 1 half of the gruesome twosome with David Smith whosigne at the same time, this scottish forward has a lot of speed and talent and is always welcome on the team.

David Smith-Forward

Smithy.gif

Davie Smith is the second part of the gruesome twosome. He is a small and fast winger,he loves a big game and will usually fire one in when he's needed. His hat-trick on the first FBNL game of the season showed just this.

Kent Nobes-Forward

Nobes.gif

A new face and a new Name, but will it be a new fans favourite? Kent has signed for the Flames after 3 years at Brock University of the CIAU, he joins Flames for his first season as a pro. He is likely to be one of Flames' best players this year so he is very welcome!

Tony Redmond-Forward

Redda.gif

Tony has signed from local rivals Basingstoke and is looking to help the younger players develop rather like the role that Ryan Campbell played last year. Tony has been at Basingstoke since 1992 only taking 1 year out to play for Slough.
